Treasures of the Sea may have opened just two months ago, but it is already making a splash in the heart of Tigard. The Pacific Northwest is known for its seafood, specifically salmon, and Treasures of the Sea is delighted to share their expertise in smoking this seafood delicacy.

The Shavlovskiy family came to Oregon from Ukraine in 1991. Vadim and Victoria Shavlovskiy have five children, three of whom are grown, and only two still living at home now. This family owned and operated business is steeped in tradition. It’s use of spices, recipes and processes have been passed down from generations. They bring an authentic and sought after Eastern European flavor to our local cuisine.

Not only do they sell directly to consumers, but to local restaurants and markets in the area such as World Foods, Uwajimaya, Imperial and Headwater restaurants. They have deliberately stayed away from wholesale to focus on the quality of their product, which is produced in small batches. Because of their commitment to bringing consumers the freshest products, all of their fish and shellfish come from right here in the Pacific Northwest, Canada and the coast of Greenland – all from sustainable sources, which is very important for our environment. They pride themselves on the fact that they do not use artificial additives, flavoring or preservatives.

This holiday season, think about shopping local and picking up some fresh, delicious smoked salmon. Hot or cold, brined in spices and smoked with hardwood chips, sea scallops and salmon would be a great addition to your Christmas feast. Or for your holiday party, a smoked salmon ring or salmon caviar would leave an impression on your guests. Some wild sockeye salmon jerky would even make a good stocking stuffer for the seafood lover in your family. Visit Treasures of the Sea and treat yourself!
