As spring continues to move quickly into summertime, I look around with excitement at all the developments that I see in King City.
We continue to make steady progress regarding our Transportation System Plan by selecting the engineering consultant firm Fehr & Peers at our March 18 City Council meeting. As a council, we were impressed by their presentation and commitment to finding solutions to our current concerns and ensuring that the community is heard. We look forward to working with Fehr & Peers throughout this process, which could take 12-18 months to complete.
I wanted to highlight a few things about this process: as a council, we remain committed to avoiding any interruptions to the Bankston Family Nature Preserve, recognizing what a wonderful natural space it is in our community. Additionally, as we revisit the TSP, we will be seeking community input at various stages. We will have more information on those opportunities soon, so be on the lookout.
The TSP has been and continues to be an agenda item that we, as a council, do not shy away from discussing. We will continue to listen to the community’s concerns and invest in thoughtful, honest conversations.
Upcoming, City Council and City Staff will also be participating in a Strategic Planning session facilitated by the League of Oregon Cities, with the goal of establishing clear priorities, a shared vision for the city, and a roadmap for its future. I look forward to seeing the outcome of this meeting.
Additionally, we completed discussions with the Budget Committee regarding the FY27 budget, which the committee recommended for adoption. I wanted to extend my gratitude to our Councilors, City Staff, and Budget Committee Members for their time and knowledge throughout this process.
I cannot believe that summer is just around the corner for our community. And with summer comes our annual Walk & Roll Fourth of July Parade and Park Festival! I want to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of City Staff as they work alongside our event partners and sponsors, and I look forward to seeing our community show up for such a beloved event. We encourage everyone to come and enjoy our parade and festival with their families and loved ones.
Thank you to everyone who continues to make King City the best place to work and play.
Sincerely,
Rachel Kazmierski, Mayor
