Mask & Mirror Community Theatre continues its season with Neil Simon’s The Odd Couple (female version) opening April 26 on The Main Stage at Rise Church, 10445 Canterbury Lane, Tigard, and running through May 12. Performances are Friday and Saturday nights at 7:30 and Sunday matinees at 2:30.

Directed by Sarah Nolte, the revision of Simon’s hugely successful original play The Odd Couple transforms the lead characters into the messy Olive Madison and the obsessively tidy Florence Unger. Easy-going Olive and her girlfriends are enjoying their weekly trivia night when Florence bursts in, having just been dumped by her husband. Fearing the neurotic Florence might attempt suicide in her despair, Olive invites her to move in and become her roommate. The combustible interaction between such decidedly different personalities tests their friendship to the limit, and an ensuing double date with the Costazuela brothers provides an explosive and hilarious climax.

Nolte’s cast features Lura Longmire as Olive Madison; Mary Reischmann as Florence Unger; Madeline Garland as Renae; Katie Skinner as Sylvie; Leslie Inmon as Mickey; Kathleen Jones as Vera; Les Ico as Manolo Costazuela; and Johnny Torres as Jesus Costazuela.

Nolte’s tech crew includes Rick Hoover as Production Manager, Joshua Willis as Stage Manager, Steve Hotaling as Light and Sound Design/Operator, and Cindy Zimmerman as Set Dresser. The multi-talented Nolte designed the set and is also props mistress and costume designer, ably assisted by Amanda Robertson.

Nolte enthusiastically states, “This cast is simply amazing. The talent exhibited each night is still blowing me away. For so many of these actors, The Odd Couple is a passion project, and I cannot wait for audiences to see the product of that passion on stage!”
