Rotary Club of Tigard recognizes 2025 Tigard High School scholarship recipients

The Rotary Club of Tigard Foundation announced the recipients of this year’s college scholarship awards during its recent 61st annual Achievement Banquet at Tigard High School. The Master of Ceremonies for the event was Marie Johnson. 

“Our Tigard Rotary Club has a long history of acknowledging the students of Tigard High’s accomplishments,” she noted. “This evening, you join in the great company of those who have been honored before you. Congratulations.” 

The keynote speaker was Dr. Iton Udosenata, Superintendent of the Tigard-Tualatin School District. 

A total of $20,000 in scholarships were awarded to the following Tigard High School students: 

Faris Alzgal received the $1,000 Rotary Club of Tigard Foundation scholarship and will major in Mechanical Engineering at PCC.

Yaretzi Ana Davila Castillo received the $4,000 Dr. Chuck Kingston Memorial Scholarship. She will attend the University of Oregon and major in Child Behavioral Health.

Rose Ariana Cruz was awarded the $4,000 Denny Purkey Memorial Scholarship. She will attend Oregon State University and major in Chemical Engineering.

Caleb Jolley received a $1,000 award from the Rotary Club of Tigard Foundation and will attend Boise State to major in Business.

Ruby Kastrava received a $4,000 Ed and Dana Murphy scholarship. She will attend the University of Oregon and major in biology with a pre-med focus.

Julian Navarra Ochoa was awarded a $1,000 Rotary Club of Tigard Foundation scholarship and will attend PCC to major in Aviation Mechanics.

Lillian Pileri received a $1000 Rotary Club of Tigard Foundation scholarship. She will attend George Fox and major in Occupational Therapy.

Joanna Rodgers received a $4,000 Alva Frahler Memorial scholarship. She will attend Southern Oregon University and major in Pre-Nursing.

Tigard Rotary president Alison Stone concluded, “The Rotary Club of Tigard has a long history of supporting students, including the awarding of scholarships and this, our annual Achievement Banquet. Each of the students recognized tonight has distinguished themselves to their peers, teachers and mentors through their dedication, perseverance and accomplishments. We extend our best wishes to these remarkable students and their families as we recognize the challenges and trials they have shared and overcome to reach some of the highest achievements in academics and community service.”
