This Fall, Mask & Mirror Community Theatre celebrates the beginning of its Tenth season of presenting quality live theatre productions in the communities of Tigard and Tualatin. Although this non-profit theater company currently has no shows in production due to COVID-19, they stand ready to hit the boards once this Pandemic is over.

Mask & Mirror was started in 2011 by a group of local thespians led by Gary and Pat Romans, long-time residents of Tigard. They wished to create a community theater group dedicated to engaging people both artistically and socially, and they were successful in doing so, garnering support and praise from the local community. Gary and Pat have been proud of the theatre group and the reputation it has established for presenting quality and affordable live theater in the Tigard and Tualatin communities. After years of successfully operating the theatre company, however, the Romans are retiring from its day to day operations. They assure us that they have left the management of Mask & Mirror in good hands!

Gary and Pat have been married for over 50 years. They have two children and two grandchildren. Gary grew up in Chicago and got the acting bug in high school where he also played in the jazz band as a saxophonist, with James Pankow of the group “Chicago”. After college, he had a career in hi-tech marketing but theatre always remained his artistic pursuit, primarily as an actor and director. Gary has been pounding the boards his whole life but now it’s time to work on his novel.

Pat is from Michigan. She also got the acting bug in high school. She met Gary while they were students at Michigan State University. After they were married, she taught elementary school and then raised their family before earning her masters degree and returning to the classroom in special education. She has been active in local theatre for almost twenty years as an actor, producer and administrator.

The communities of Tigard and Tualatin wish to express their appreciation to the Romans for their contributions to Mask and Mirror and the suburban Portland community theater scene. For more information about Mask & Mirror Community Theatre, please visit their website at www.maskandmirror.com.
