A team of high school baseball players from around the region capped off an impressive summer with a trip to North Carolina for the American Legion World Series.

The Barbers, who are sponsored by Tigard American Legion Post 158, won the Oregon state title and followed that up by winning the regional tournament in Montana.

This was the Barbers’ first-ever regional title, and it’s the second time the Barbers have won the state title after doing so in 2023, as well.

The regional title secured the Barbers one of eight spots in the World Series, held this year in Shelby, North Carolina.

The Barbers won a few games and advanced all the way to the semifinal game before they were eliminated. They finished the summer with a 46-6 record.

The team is made up of players from Tigard, LaSalle, Jesuit, Sunset, Scappoose, Aloha, Ridgeview, Sherwood, and Ida B. Wells high schools.

Sixteen of the 21 players on the team will continue playing ball collegiately in the spring, including nine of them at Division I universities.

This year is the 100th anniversary of American Legion baseball, which has seen more than 10 million competitors over the last century.

Tigard American Legion Post 158 sponsors three other baseball teams in addition to the Barbers: the Hillsdale Merchants, Tigard Clippers, and Everett Street Mechanics.

The Barbers are coached by Joe Duran, who just finished up his 15th season leading the squad.

The 2025 Barbers roster is made up of:
Jacob Bishop of Jesuit, Max Bishop of LaSalle, Dakota Chun of Sunset, Gabriel Coltman of Sunset, Joe Fagan of Scappoose, Torsten Hersom of LaSalle, David Hoskins of Aloha, Zach Jaeger of Tigard, Grady Keljo of Jesuit, Kiernan Kelly of LaSalle, Calvin Martinez of Jesuit, Jayden Nakamura of Aloha, Logan Nakamura of Ridgeview, Ryden Nakamura of Ridgeview, Peyton Nash of Sherwood, Declan O’Brien of LaSalle, Miles Ott of Tigard, Connor Parry of Sherwood, Jase Randall of Tigard, and Griffin Scott of Wells.
