Editors Note: The following article originally ran in Tigard Life’s third issue, back in May 2017. It is with a heavy heart that we share that our Everyday Hero, Ricky Downs, has passed away.
In today’s world, we are a nation of fast time-lines, fast schedules, and fast food in our very busy world. We have worked hard all day long, have a busy week ahead of us, and we’re just too tired to cook so a stop for a well-prepared meal at Safeway’s deli on Pacific Hwy is a must.
What is nicer than to be helped by Ricky Downs, one of Safeway’s gracious ambassadors at the deli, a smiling and happy customer service man who has been with Safeway for 17 years, and with this Safeway store since 2007. You probably already know him if you stopped by there before as he meticulously goes about his work making sure your order is great and making sure you receive the best possible service from him.
Yep, that is Ricky alright, and his co-workers are fast to agree that he is one important friend and employee. Ricky is quick to notice if someone may have had a bad day and it’s important to him they don’t have a bad experience on his watch. Stop in and see if you don’t agree and do tell him hello. You will have made a new friend. Note: Ricky is a devoted SF Giants fan.
