Real Estate Company Rebrands in Midst of Pandemic

When Ken Miller started planning a new logo for Ken Miller & Associates last winter, he had no idea the unveiling would occur in the midst of a worldwide pandemic.

Yet he feels that starting to use the new evergreen-and-lemon yellow logo at the beginning of May ironically came at a good time to differentiate their listings in a market that is surprisingly strong despite the prevalence of COVID-19.

“Everyone in the office could say yay or nay to the different ideas,” that led to the final design that is on signs, door mats, shopping bags and more.

“It was the perfect time to make the change, and the market has been busy,” Ken said, “It’s been good. We have a good group of agents, and they have been busy.”

However, Ken pointed out that “the inventory is way too low. It’s a sellers’ market, and there are so many buyers out looking.”

Most of the nine Realtors in the company have been there for many years and have a detailed knowledge of the area and its history. Ken entered real estate in 2002 and started Ken Miller & Associates in 2008 in King City, although Ken joked that with the Great Recession beginning, “it was probably not the greatest time to start a real estate business.”

The company focuses on the 55-plus communities of Summerfield, the King City Civic Association and the Highlands, which are all homeowner associations with both restrictions and benefits. Ken explained that “a benefit of living in an HOA is that the property values are kept up.”

Most of the company’s agents live in one of the three HOAs, “which makes us a better realty company for these neighborhoods,”

Ken added, “Our agents are intimately acquainted with the unique rules, regulations and legal processes that come with buying or selling in active 55-plus communities.” Vicki added, “If you have a knowledgeable real estate agent, buyers know the rules going in.”

The office follows the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines that include social distancing and has held weekly Zoom meetings.

Out on the front lines of the real estate market, at open houses, the agents make sure everything is clean and provide wipes and hand sanitizer plus wastebaskets for debris. The agents also wear masks and ask clients to do so. In fact, in the Millers’ office are shelves 6 feet high stacked with wipes, masks, cleaners and hand sanitizers for the agents to use, which took Ken many trips to various stores to accumulate.

“We wipe everything people touch. It’s a good habit to get into anyway. And there is no eating or drinking. But sellers can opt not to have open houses too, in which case there are virtual tours.”

“We are very positive about the future. If people are buying or selling and feeling overwhelmed, we’ll do as little or as much as you want. We want to make it a fun experience.”

Ken added, “It almost feels like we are starting over with our new look. There is a new enthusiasm in the company.”

Although Ken Miller & Associates is open for business, it is limiting foot traffic in and out of the office, which is located at 11725 SW Queen Elizabeth, Suite A, King City. For more information, visit KenMillerAssociates.com or call 503-639-0630.
