Tigard Life has learned that the Tigard Regal Cinema is now permanently closed. A visit by Tigard Life representatives on Tuesday, March 21 confirmed the theatre was dark, and flyers posted on doors advised patrons to please visit other nearby locations. According to a January 2023 article on CNN, Regal Cinemas was closing 39 theaters, including the Sherwood location. At that time, the Tigard location was not on the list, so they’ve added additional locations for closure. The article explained that Regal’s parent company, Cineworld, filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy in September of 2022, seeking to end leases to save the company $22 million annually.
