Oregon Representative Ben Bowman was among 19 leaders selected from around the country to join a network of state and local officials recognized for their pragmatic, forward-thinking approach and commitment to solving challenges facing their constituents.

NewDEAL (Developing Exceptional American Leaders) has about 200 hundred members who work across party lines, sharing ideas and policy models to address current societal challenges.

“This is a watershed moment for Oregon, as we work to channel transformational levels of federal aid while grappling with the challenges that will continue to affect the economic security and prosperity for Oregonians for decades to come,” Bowman said in a written statement, “I look forward to sharing lessons with and learning from other leaders who are setting the standard for effective governance, and I am excited to be part of NewDEAL’s efforts to expand opportunities for Americans in communities nationwide.”

NewDEAL next meets in November at the 2023 Leaders Conference in Washington, D.C.

The group’s past work includes tracking effective uses of ARPA funds, and contributing to reports of policy recommendations on education, climate change, broadband and the future of work.
