As the calendar flips to July, red, white, and blue decorations begin to appear across King City – a clear sign that one of the town’s most cherished traditions is fast approaching. The King City 4th of July Parade and Community Park Celebration is back, and this year promises to be bigger, better, and more festive than ever.
Since its inception in 2017, the King City 4th of July Parade has become a cornerstone of the town’s holiday festivities, providing an opportunity for residents to come together in the spirit of community. The event has steadily grown into a beloved tradition, bringing together families, neighbors, local organizations, and volunteers in a celebration that highlights the best of small-town charm.
“This event is really about bringing people together,” said Heather Wakem, one of the longtime volunteers helping to coordinate this year’s festivities. “It’s not just about celebrating the holiday – it’s about building connections and giving people a reason to get outside and enjoy the neighborhood together.”
Returning to the Traditional Parade Route

One welcome change in 2025 is the return to the original parade route, after last year’s temporary adjustment. This year, the parade will once again begin at the King City Community Association building and wind its way through the residential streets toward King City Community Park, offering plenty of spots for families to set up chairs, wave flags, and enjoy the show.
“We’re excited to be back on our traditional route,” said Stephanie Hartman, one of the event organizers. “It offers more visibility, more chances for residents to enjoy the event, and it really connects the entire community – from the King City Community Association all the way to the Edgewater neighborhood.”
Walkers and bike riders will conclude their parade route at King City Community Park, while golf carts and vintage cars are encouraged to follow a return route back to the King City Community Association building, providing additional opportunities for community members along the way to watch, wave, and enjoy the extended festivities.
All Are Welcome to Participate
One of the parade’s most charming aspects is the diversity of its participants. This isn’t a parade you watch – it’s one you can join.
Residents are invited to participate in the celebration by driving a vintage or classic car, decorating a golf cart and joining the lineup, or walking or riding a bike in festive attire. Children are encouraged to decorate their bikes, wagons, and scooters, and join in the fun. Pets, too, are welcome (as long as they’re well-behaved and comfortable in crowds).
To participate, residents can arrive at the staging area at 9 a.m. on July 4th at the King City Community Association parking lot. There is no cost to join – just a willingness to bring some red, white, and blue spirit! The parade will depart at 10 a.m. and proceed along its route towards King City Community Park.
Park Party to Follow
From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the fun continues at King City Community Park, where a community-wide party will take place featuring a full lineup of entertainment, food, and family-friendly activities.
Among the highlights:
Live music – festive tunes to keep the celebration lively and fun for all ages – food trucks, vendors, local business booths, bounce houses and classic lawn games, including cornhole, croquet, and ring toss.
There’s something for everyone – whether you want to relax in the shade with a cold drink, dance to live music or let the kids enjoy the play structure and games.
Want to Join the Fun?
Whether you want to walk in the parade, volunteer at the park, or just cheer from the sidelines, there are plenty of ways to get involved.
