This article is part 1 in a series of 3. Part 2, Part 3
In this article I will review one of their apps that relate to emergency preparedness. Subsequent articles will review other Red Cross mobile apps. You can find more information about these apps here: www.redcross.org/get-help/how-to-prepare-for-emergencies/mobile-apps.html.
Red Cross First Aid app
When an accident or disaster happens, we all want to help, but we may need some reminders about what is the correct action. The Red Cross First Aid app doesn’t take the place of taking a First Aid class, but it can refresh your memory about the appropriate action to take when confronted with a life-threatening or non-life-threatening injury.
The Red Cross First Aid app can be used in a learning mode to help you be ready to help yourself and others when an accident occurs. The format in the mobile app is also useful as a good review if you have previously taken a First Aid class.
The First Aid app also helps you learn about what to do in case of larger scale disasters like earthquakes, heat wave, etc.
An “emergency” section of the app focuses on the most important steps to help with many types of injury.
Once you’ve reviewed the information in some of the learning sections, you can take a quiz within the app to be confident that you understood the material.
Finally, the Red Cross First Aid app can help you find the nearest hospital using a location you enter or your phone’s current location.
Things To Do
- Download the Red Cross First Aid app by visiting the Apple or Google app stores.
