“Art” Schmidt, son of Bonaventure and Albertina Schmidt, loving husband of Jacki Bauer, passed away at his home in Tigard, OR. Art was married four times, surviving his first three wives.
Art was preceded in death by his first wife, Darlene (Sack) Schmidt. They are survived by their children, Becky Knox and husband Don, Stephen Schmidt and wife Bev, and Eddie Schmidt and wife Kelli, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Art was preceded in death by his second wife, Sheryl (Stouffer-Stalker) Schmidt. They are survived by their children, Janel Schmidt and Jeff Schmidt, and his wife, Meagan, as well as two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Art was preceded in death by his third wife, Sue (Callaway) Schmidt. They are survived by Sue’s grown children and grandchildren.
Art is survived by his wife, Jacki, of Tigard, OR, and her children, Quinn Posner and wife Kelly, and Lindsey Posner and husband Jaoa Barbizam, and five grandchildren.
Art is survived by his brother, Larry Schmidt, and wife, Margeret.
Art attended Conception Seminary for three years in Conception, MO, and completed his degree at Rockhurst University.
Art worked for IBM for 27 years, starting in the mailroom and advancing to Director of a customer service team. After earning his graduate degree in Theology, Art took a position as the Parish Administrator for St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Rogers, AR. Art managed the various activities required to finance and construct a new church building. After moving to Oregon, Art became a hospital chaplain providing pastoral care.
Art then served as a Deacon for the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Tigard, OR.
A funeral Mass celebrating Art’s life will be held in St. Paul, NE, on July 24, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
