Molly Patricia Kernan passed away in Tigard, Oregon, on Jan. 3, 2026, at the age of 74. Born in Portland, she was a devoted wife, sister, aunt, and friend whose warmth will be deeply missed.
On Nov. 18, 1971, Molly married Wayne L. Kernan in Vancouver, Wash. Together, they celebrated 55 years of marriage. A graduate of Gresham High School and Marylhurst College, Molly built a rewarding career working with notable Northwest organizations, including Union Pacific Railroad, Portland General Electric, Nike, and Portland Community College.
Retirement allowed Molly the time to fully explore her interests. She was an avid reader and a creative soul who loved painting chinaware. She also found joy in gardening, traveling, and researching family genealogy. Her home was made complete by her constant companions: her beloved cat, Gracie, and dog, Nellie.
A private service will be held to honor her life. Knowing Molly’s lifelong love of animals, the family suggests remembrances be made to the Oregon Humane Society in lieu of flowers.
She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
