Joyce “Joy” Johnson, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, and artist, passed away peacefully in June 2025 at the age of 87. Her life was one of love, creativity, and quiet service to others.

Born in 1937, Joy dedicated her life to learning, teaching, and lifting those around her. She worked for a law firm and later followed her passion for education as a Montessori teacher, art teacher, and librarian. Her artistic talents were evident in her work as an accomplished painter, and her love of beauty touched every part of her life.

Joy was married to her sweetheart, Richard Johnson, for 67 years. Together, they raised a large and loving family. She is survived by her husband and their nine children: Michelle, Trevor, Thayre, Monique, Taylor, Meegan, Crystal, Judy, and Jenny.

She is also survived by her 29 grandchildren: Christian, Brandon, Jordan, Allysha, Zia, Ellee, Kevin, Cori, Karen, Payton, Espen, Asher, Kaitlin, Merrick, Seth, Joe, Olin, Christy, Roni, Melanie, Gina, Lena, Angela, Dale, Allison, Lynn, Caleb, and Amanda; as well as 37 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren—each a living testament to her love, patience, and strength.

A devoted disciple of Jesus Christ, Joy lived her faith quietly but powerfully. She was a steady support to her family, friends, and community—always encouraging and always kind. Her deep testimony of the gospel guided her choices and inspired all who knew her.

Joy’s legacy is one of gentleness, wisdom, creativity, and devotion. Her influence will continue to be felt in the lives of her posterity and those she served with love.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 29th, 2025, in honor and celebration of her life. Her final resting place is
Sunset Hills Mortuary.
