It wasn’t just Natalie Wilhoit who had a strong showing at the state wrestling championship tournament for Tigard.

A ton of wrestlers made it to the second day of the tournament at Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
The Tigard wrestler who made it farthest outside of Wilhoit was Cody McLay at 150 pounds. The senior was one of the top wrestlers on the team for Tigard during the season, and won his first two matches of the weekend to make it to the quarterfinals.
He lost in that round, and then won enough in the consolation bracket to earn a spot in the fifth-place match, which he won thanks to a 26-13 technical fall. McLay finished his senior year with a team-high 43 wins this year.

The Tigers had three wrestlers reach the fourth round of the their respective consolation brackets.
First up was Joshua Sprague at 126 pounds. After dropping his second-round match, Sprague won two matches in the consolation bracket, both via pinfall, to make the fourth round. Sprague finished his junior year with a record of 36-7 on the year.
Theodore Sandford also reached the fourth round of the consolation bracket at 157 pounds for Tigard. Sandford opened his weekend strong with a pinfall victory in his opening round match. After a loss in the second, Sandford won two straight in the consolation bracket to also reach the fourth round there.

Sandford, a senior captain on the team, finished the year at 29-18.
Senior Bryson Harty also opened his state tournament with a pinfall before falling in the second round. Harty then won straight in the 165-pound consolation bracket. He finished his senior year with 27 wins.
A few other wrestlers scored team points for the Tigers throughout the weekend.
Those wrestlers included Namari McKibben-Denson at 175 pounds, Carson Looney at 190 pounds, Pedro Garcia Ruiz at 215 pounds, and Braeden Krizan and Drayson Drew Kammerer both at 285 pounds.
Over on the girls side, the only other Tigard wrestler to qualify for the state tournament was Valery Chun-Sajqui at 140 pounds.
