The first production of the 15th season of the twice-yearly, edgier UnMasked offerings from Mask & Mirror Community Theatre will be John Cariani’s “Almost, Maine,” opening January 16, 2026, at the theater’s venue for UnMasked productions: Tualatin United Methodist Church, 20200 SW Martinazzi Avenue, Tualatin. The comedy will run for 4 weekends through February 7 with performances on Friday nights at 7:30 and Saturday matinees at 2:00. Note that no UnMasked Saturday night or Sunday shows will be offered.

The gentle plot will take you under the shimmering Northern Lights, where the quirky residents of a small, unincorporated town find love and connection in surprising ways. This series of nine vignettes blends humor, heartbreak, and magic to explore the joys and perils of romance.

The original Off-Broadway production in 2006 was considered a commercial flop, but the play went on to become extremely popular and eventually win numerous ensemble, technical, director, individual actor’s, and critics’ choice awards.

Director Jodi Johnson’s cast features John Bartholomew, Jessica Gift, Les Ico, Diana Powell, Katie Souza, Devin Stinson, Gynanesh Trivedi, Jason Paris, and Janet Meyers Vanoni. Each cast member will play multiple roles in a series of scenes throughout the show.

Johnson will also be Stage Manager, and her tech crew includes John and Kim Bartholomew as Production Managers, John Bartholomew as Set Designer, Kim Bartholomew as Props Mistress, George Mauro and Steve Hotaling for Lighting/Sound Design, Steve Hotaling as Lighting/Sound Operator, and Jodi Johnson, Kim Bartholomew and cast sharing Costume Design duties.

Director Johnson stated, “The cast of ‘Almost, Maine’ has been working hard but having fun at the same time at rehearsals. We cannot wait to perform this sweet story about love, loss, and romance for you, and we look forward to seeing you there!”
