Ben Rector found a passion for music 26 years ago and has been performing professionally in bands ever since. He has taught group guitar through community education classes in multiple school districts, holds a Bachelor of Music in Classical Guitar Performance from Portland State University, and founded King City Guitar in 2016.

Watching students go from knowing nothing about music to becoming talented musicians was fulfilling.

“I had a blast being part of a community and contributing to it, even helping facilitate it. I learned that just by offering the opportunity to partake in music, one inspired individual or organization can create a demand for it, a music scene,” Rector explained.

“Music moves everyone, and I believe there’s a musician in everyone. Once people realize they can participate in it, they get excited! I wanted to share my passion with others, so I created King City Guitar.”

King City Guitar offers private lessons in Guitar, Bass, Drums, and Keyboard, tailored to the goals of each student, and the first lesson is always free! King City Guitar also provides an opportunity to play in groups with other students, including full bands of Guitar, Bass, Drums, Keyboard, and Vocals. You can also play in the guitar ensemble, an all-guitar group focusing on reading music together.

King City Guitar holds quarterly recitals, and with the instructors’ ties to the musical community, we provide opportunities for students to perform locally at several all-ages music venues.

Beginning in May, King City Guitar will offer group classes, which meet twice weekly. Group lessons allow beginning students to receive a quality musical foundation in a fun group setting while receiving twice the instruction time for less cost than private lessons. Sign-ups are happening now.

King City Guitar serves the Tigard, Tualatin and Sherwood area from its centrally located King City location and strives to provide a unique music experience you won’t find anywhere else. They’re growing every day and currently hiring new teachers. So whether you want to sign up for private lessons, group classes, ensembles & bands, or you believe you have the skills and drive to join their team and teach with the best music experience in town, get a hold of King City Guitar today!
