For many, December signals a time of reflection and an opportunity to look ahead to the New Year. If you’ve been looking for a meaningful way to get involved in your community, consider being a hunger hero and volunteering at Bethlehem House of Bread.
Bethlehem House of Bread (BHOB) is a food pantry in Tigard with a mission to feed those who are hungry in body and spirit at a table where all are welcome. At a time when 1 in 7 Oregonians are food insecure, BHOB fills an important need in our community by making sure fewer of our neighbors go to bed hungry.
Be A Hunger Hero
We’re planning our programing and services for 2019 and need your help to fulfill our mission. Join us on January 12 from 12:00-1:30 pm for a special volunteer orientation to learn more about BHOB and how you can be a hunger hero.
There are many ways to get involved and most opportunities are only a few hours in length and don’t require a regular commitment. Individuals, families, groups, and businesses are all encouraged to volunteer – some options include:
- Assist families in shopping the pantry
- Stock pantry shelves and repackage bulk food items
- Help with fundraising or special events
- Work in the community garden
- Sort clothing and other donations
- Teach a class
- Provide clerical or website support
- Assist with grounds and building maintenance
