Downtown Tigard’s Main Street is getting some special attention this season. A group of local business owners have come together to illuminate Main Street in a celebration they are calling “Light the Night.”

This is the passion of Beach Hut Deli owner Chris Haedinger who grew up with town square lighting traditions in his native country of Switzerland. “Everywhere in Europe they light up city centers for the Holidays, I wanted to see some of that cheer on Main Street.” Their plan is to light up 13 trees with festive lights starting Saturday Nov. 21 and running through New Years.

Chris has rallied other local merchants to the cause like Curiosities Vintage Mall, Senet Game Bar and Cooper Mountain Ale Works. “When Chris approached me with his idea, I was totally on board!” said Derrick Wright, owner of Senet Game bar. Chris Sjolin, co-owner of Cooper Mountain Ale Works said, “We are so excited to do our part to bring some brightness to Main Street Tigard.”
