2022 Tigard Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Recipients

The Tigard Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the 2022 recipients of the Tigard Shining Stars Scholarship. The scholarships are made possible by a generous donation from Westside Professional & Business Associates, Center Street Gold & Silver, Pride Disposal, and 80+ members of the chamber.

Join us in congratulating the following students for earning this highly competitive scholarship:

Ashely Sample is a heavily involved student at Tigard High School. She has been a member of the varsity volleyball team, varsity track team, National Honors Society, HOSA, Tigard High School Service Club, Young Life as a student leader and the International Club Committee. She has also been a Red Cross volunteer, high school representative and intern. She also worked at the Bonaventure of Tigard.

Ashley plans to get a bachelor’s degree in nursing and become a travel nurse while going to school to get her master’s to become a nurse practitioner. 

Brendon Tran is a Senior at Tigard High School. He has been the Vice President of the Asian Union Club and a youth leader for the Vietnamese community. He has also been a member of the basketball, tennis, and volunteer clubs. From September to the present, he has been a tutor as well.

Brendon plans to go to Oregon State University to get a degree in finance. He would like to go into a career in investing or stock trading.

Charles Peters is a Senior at Tigard High School. He has been on the baseball team for all four years. He also played on the high school soccer team for two years. Charles has also been working part-time at Landmark Ford as a Parts Picker. He also helps his neighbors and family with yard work and pet sitting

Charles plans to get a degree in Automotive Technology. He will be going to Lane Community College in the Fall. He wants to work on cars and trucks for his career.

Ellie Emery is a very active Senior at Tigard High School. She is the President of the Sparrow Club, Secretary of Tigard Service Club, a member of the National Honors Society, and a member of the Black Student Union. She is also on the varsity Cross Country and Softball teams. She has also worked at Rocking Horse Learning Center as an Assistant Teacher, Tiny Tigers Daycare helper, and was an intern at the Good Neighbor Center

Ellie’s career goal is to be an elementary school teacher and have an equitable classroom.

Madison Westfall is also a Senior at Tigard High School. She has been involved in dance since she was two years old. She also works for a dance competition called Celebrity. She works weekends registering dancers, selling the company clothing, and more. She also worked as a nanny for a family.

Madison plans to major in business management, working towards becoming an event planner.

Our congratulation again to all five recipients. The scholarships were formally given out at the Tigard Shining Stars Community Awards Presented by Edge One Media on April 29.
