Local Tigard Rabbi Menachem Orenstein of the Tigard Chabad Jewish Center has made history by becoming the first Jewish Chaplain in the Oregon National Guard. The local spiritual leader, well-known for his work in the Tigard community, is excited to extend his service to those who protect the nation.

“I believe the military chaplaincy is a natural extension of my mission to provide spiritual support and connection to people of all backgrounds,” said Rabbi Orenstein. “I am honored to serve my country and carry on the legacy of my grandfathers who served in World War II.”

The Rabbi’s new role is expected to increase the visibility of the Jewish community in Oregon while providing essential spiritual care to service members.
