As 2026 gets underway, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on how far King City has come in the past year. I am deeply optimistic about King City’s future, and I am excited to see everything we are setting out to accomplish this year.

Every day, I see great strides in communication and collaboration, both within the City Council and with City Staff, and I look forward to working with both to achieve our mission. One of the primary ways we will begin our work will be through a strategic planning session in early March with our new City Manager, Vincent Ferraris, during which we will outline our short- and long-term goals for King City and the City Council. The results of that planning session will be a cornerstone of our work moving forward.

As a Council, we are deeply committed to our ongoing projects, such as the Transportation System Plan relook, which allows us to evaluate all options and select the best one for King City regarding the future of transportation. We want to increase community involvement, and we have heard many great ideas on what that may look like. We remain committed to resolving King City’s sidewalk issue and will continue working to identify a solution that works for the city and its citizens.

Over the past year, our city has faced significant challenges and change. I want to take a moment to express my deep gratitude to our dedicated city staff for their collaboration, professionalism, and positive attitudes, and especially to our Chief of Police, Ernie Happala, for stepping into the role of Acting City Manager. Everyone has gone above and beyond to ensure our city services continued without interruption during this transition. I am truly grateful for all the work accomplished.

Most importantly, we will remain dedicated to transparency and communication. This starts with listening to each citizen’s feedback and working together to improve the King City community for the future. I hope that you join us in making King City truly a Community for All Ages!

With Gratitude,

Rachel Kazmierski, Mayor
