    DISplace exhibit curated by Five Oaks Museum

    Library Backyard | All ages

    Visit the library’s backyard and view the mobile exhibit, DISplace which shines light on the widely unknown connection between Hawai’i and the Pacific Northwest. Learn about the people coming from and through the Hawaiian Islands to the Pacific Northwest and the impact they have made on the culture and industry of both locations starting as far back as 1787.

    Story times on March 10th and 31st will be held bilingually in English and Spanish.

    Gather the whole family for virtual story time! We will share stories, sing songs, and have all sorts of fun. Registration for each session is required.     You are the GM. Your players want to adopt the random NPC into the party. What’s worse, you didn’t plan who this NPC was beyond their name and profession. How do you tell the players “no?” Also, what does NPC mean? Join us in April for more D&D fun! Register on the library website.

    Rules of the Road: Legal Clinic for Bicyclists and Pedestrians

    Wednesday, March 9 | Noon-1 p.m.

    Learn everything you need to know about your rights and responsibilities on the road while bicycling! The clinic will be led by a lawyer from Thomas, Coon, Newton & Frost who will share insights on Oregon laws, how to stay safe on the road, and what to do if you’re in a crash. Hosted in partnership with Westside Transportation Alliance and The Street Trust. This is a live Zoom Webinar. Registration is required. Register on the library website.

    The Dogs of Chernobyl: 35 Years Later, a Story of Hope and Resilience

    Saturday, March 19 | 1-2 p.m.
    Virtual program | Adults

    35 years after the nuclear plant disaster of 1986, Stephen Quandt went to Chernobyl to participate in a spay/neuter and research campaign for the dogs that were descended from the pets left behind. With photographs and videos, Stephen shares his story of meeting the inhabitants, and how radiation and their environment impacted their lives. This 60-minute presentation will conclude with a Q&A.     Writing Your Obsessions: Unlock the Secret to Inspired Writing with Katherine Quevedo

    Monday, March 28 | 6:30-7:45 p.m.

    Join local author Katherine Quevedo for a presentation on finding inspiration to write in a time of tumult and uncertainty. Born near Portland, Oregon, Katherine is a writer of poetry, science fiction, and horror, and her works have appeared in a variety of publications including Best Indie Speculative Fiction, Writer’s Digest, and the website of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America.
