Broadway Rose Theatre Company is proud to present Once Upon a Mattress, the classic Broadway musical adapted from Hans Christian Andersen’s 1835 fairy tale “The Princess and the Pea.” Preview performance is on Thursday, May 21, with opening night on Friday, May 22, and performances continuing through June 21. Evening performances are Thursday through Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Matinees are at 2:00 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. A post-show talkback will be hosted at the Saturday matinee on May 30; audio description is available at the Saturday matinee on June 6. Performances are held at the Broadway Rose New Stage located at 12850 SW Grant Ave. in Tigard.

In a kingdom where no one can marry until the prince does, a parade of eligible princesses has failed to impress the overbearing Queen Aggravain. Enter the delightful Princess Winnifred the Woebegone—unconventional, outspoken, and nothing like what the court expected. But beneath her bold exterior is someone simply searching for a place to belong. As the castle’s quirky inhabitants scheme, sing, and fall in love, Once Upon a Mattress becomes more than a fairy tale. This musical comedy reminds us that being true to yourself is the first step toward finding where you truly fit.

The Broadway Rose cast stars Karin Terry as Princess Winnifred and Broadway Rose founders Sharon Maroney and Dan Murphy as Queen Aggravain and King Sextimus the Silent. Also featured are Andy Baldwin as Prince Dauntless, Travis Bilenski as the Wizard, Collin Carver as the Jester, Alec J. Connolly as the Minstrel, Alex Foufos as Sir Harry, and Marin Donohue as Lady Larken. Completing the cast are Joseph Cannon, Azhia Ellis, Noah Kino, Alison Luey, Dylan Anthony Macabitas, Majd Murad, Chynna Rae Shurts, Emerson T. Skogen, Mallory Speten, and Blythe Woodland

Broadway Rose is excited to welcome back Always…Patsy Cline director Chan Harris, who will be joined by music director Billy Thompson. Audiences can look forward to scenic designs by Sean O’skea, costume design by Debra Bray, and lighting design by Jesse Klug. Props design by Kate Badon, sound design by Brian Karl Moen, and wig design by Jane Holmes. Completing the production team is Jessica Junor as production stage manager, Raef Wheaton as technical director, and Karen Hill as production manager
