Triangle, a new love story, is set against the backdrop of the infamous Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire in New York and its modern-day inhabitants. The musical follows two romances: a Jewish immigrant seamstress and her Italian foreman, and a graduate student and his relationship with a handsome free-spirited stranger. The show parallels their stories as they are set in the same location, a century apart. Filled with fresh melodies and a poignant narrative, the couples discover what it means to risk everything for love.
Managing Director Dan Murphy first encountered Triangle 12 years ago at the National Alliance of Musical Theatre New Works Festival in New York. After just a 45-minute preview of the show, he knew Broadway Rose had to bring the show to its stage someday. “This story is so beautifully told,” Murphy says. “One of the most magical things about musicals is the way music takes over when words alone aren’t enough, lifting the story to another level.”
In 2014, Murphy attended a fully staged workshop production of Triangle at Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma. With artistic director Michael Barron in the director’s chair, the harrowing story of two couples – navigating love and loss a century apart – took life in a way that was both haunting and beautiful. Broadway Rose is excited to welcome Michael Barron to our stage to once again direct this timeless new love story. Barron shares, “I’m thrilled to revisit the show with members of the original creative team as well as Broadway Rose’s finest talent – both on and off stage”
