The Middle of Millen Drive Independence Day Parade (MOMDIDP) will take place on Tuesday, July 4th, at 4:00 p.m. along Millen Drive between Southwest 92nd and 93rd Avenues in Tigard.

MOMDIDP is a family-friendly event that features a variety of entries, including floats, bicycles, walkers, and pets. Kona Ice of Tigard will be available this year at 3:00 p.m. with cold treats for purchase.

The parade always starts with the Pledge of Allegiance, someone singing the national anthem, and sometimes “America the Beautiful.” And every year, a grand marshal is chosen. This year’s grand marshals are Carol Gifford, who started the parade 26 years ago, and her “sweetheart and partner in all things MOMDIDP,” Chris Coplen. The two met at the very first parade.

The parade is free to attend and open to the public. Spectators are encouraged to bring lawn chairs to enjoy the festivities.

In addition to the parade, there will also be a Fireworks Display at Tigard High School immediately following the parade.
